Well! i may sound a little disappointed because i too loved the Tiki-Taka game, but this is Soccer. When Chile won their first match against Australia everybody was thinking good for Chile at least they won the one match the could in this group. But like me who ever saw yesterday's game would agree that the Spanish side was not even close to what it should be in terms of performance. Take nothing away from the Chilean attack that struck like lightening.
We all know where this ball is gonna end up, and this is how Eduardo Vargas broke the Spain's hope of staying in the World Cup. In the 20th minute as a result of a quick passing move at the heart of which was Barcelona player Alexis Sánchez, Chile scored their first goal against the defending Champions.Spain never looked the team with an intent to win until they were hit by an amazing strike from Charles Aránguiz.
From a free kick that was punched out by Iker Casillas and landed perfectly for Aránguiz, he placed a ball curling away from the Spanish captain and into the nets. One could see the writing on the wall but everybody expected some sort of retaliation from the Spanish giants.
The closes chance of the match was presented to Sergio Busquets inches away from the goal line after an attempted over head kick by Diego Costa. But it was not to be La Roja's night.
The match was all about Chile and their game against the best team in the world. While watching the match it never occurred to me that the 2010 champions were playing against 14th Rank team. Yes the Spanish side did not perform to their potential but the Chile side gave a performance that will be if not the best then one of their best performances in the FIFA World Cup.
